Scenic boat trip & fishing from Simon's Town
Scenic Charter
Four hours on False Bay with the Cape Peninsula as your backdrop. Cruise beneath the cliffs of Cape Point, visit Seal Island in False Bay and see some of South Africa's best-known marine wildlife up close, with time to drop a line for reef fish, squid, yellowtail and Cape snoek along the way.
This is our most relaxed trip and the one we recommend for families, first-timers and anyone with a few hours to spare in Cape Town. The boat is yours for the morning: you choose how much fishing and how much sightseeing you want, and the crew plans the route around the conditions on the day.
Wildlife sightings may include common dolphins riding the bow wave, Cape fur seals at Seal Island, African penguins along the Simon's Town coastline and pelagic seabirds. Whales pass through in season, and orcas are seen occasionally. Nothing is guaranteed out here, which is part of the magic.
If you'd like to fish, we bottom fish and spin in the calmer, protected parts of the bay. All rods, reels, tackle and fresh bait are supplied, and the crew will rig, coach and unhook for you. Children of all ages are welcome. Just let us know their ages so we have the right life vests on board.

No. You can spend the whole trip sightseeing, fish the whole time, or mix the two. Anyone fishing needs a valid South African recreational fishing permit, which we can help arrange.
Whales visit False Bay in season and orcas are seen occasionally, but wildlife is never guaranteed. Dolphins, Cape fur seals, penguins and seabirds are the most common sightings.
